INSS thwarts operations to smuggle more than half a million liters of oil derivatives

Iraqi National Security Service-INSS announced on Tuesday, that it had thwarted smuggling operations of more than half a million liters of oil derivatives, and arrested (14) smugglers.

“Within the continues operations to curb the smuggling of oil derivatives, INSS foiled attempts to smuggle of more than half a million liters of oil derivatives,” INSS stated in a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.

"The operations took place in the governorates (Baghdad, Anbar, Diyala, Salah al-Din, Nineveh, and Karbala), and also resulted in the raiding of (8) dens containing smuggling tanks, in addition to the arrest of (14) accused according to judicial arrest warrants,” the statement added.

The statement continued, "The seized materials were confiscated and all the accused were referred to the competent legal authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law.
