PM's support helped mitigate the effects of the water crisis

    The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed today, Friday, that the support of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, helped reduce the effects of the water crisis, while announcing a directive for him to use all papers to obtain Iraq's water share.

    The adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources, Taha Daraa, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is a shortage of water storage, whether in large dams or others," noting that "the ministry's policy is to benefit from the water in the Tharthar Basin as it is large and can Benefiting from it through technical capabilities, in addition to reducing waste in water and preventing all excesses that waste water.

    Daraa added, "The ministry relies a lot on the prime minister's support and the ministers' policy with regard to neighboring countries to obtain Iraq's water share," explaining that "the releases launched by Turkey are not Iraq's entitlement, and after the prime minister's visit to Turkey, the latter increased the releases for only a month, and did not You reach the number that Iraq wants."
    He pointed out that "the prime minister directed the use of all cards, especially networking interests to obtain our share of water from Turkey and Iran," stressing that "the support of the prime minister helps a lot in minimizing the effects of the crisis."
    He pointed out that "water releases from the Karun River helped reduce the salinity of the water reaching Basra."
