The Supreme Judicial Council announced the arrest of the largest drug trafficking network in northern Iraq.
The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The First Karkh Investigation Court issued a judicial decision implemented by the General Directorate for Narcotics Affairs, through which it arrested the largest drug trafficking network in northern Iraq.".
The statement added, "An anti-drug force, under the supervision of the First Karkh Investigation Court, carried out a qualitative, pre-emptive security operation in Dohuk governorate, in coordination with Erbil's drug control and with a high-level security effort, which resulted in the arrest of a drug dealer who is very dangerous to the security of society.".
He pointed out, "He was caught in possession of narcotic pills of the type Captagon weighing (236,476) kilograms, and narcotic opium weighing (35,755) kilograms. He was placed under arrest and the necessary legal measures were taken in accordance with the decisions issued by the First Karkh Investigation Court, which is concerned with the file of narcotics and psychotropic substances.".
