Intelligence Agency: Foiling an attempt to smuggle 138,000 dollars into northern Iraq

    The Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Interior announced today, Sunday, that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle $138,000 into northern Iraq.
     
     
    The intelligence agency stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "in according the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and under the direct supervision of the Minister of Interior, to prevent currency smuggling and prevent speculators from manipulating and smuggling currency, the intelligence agency has begun to take strict measures to limit currency smuggling by checking arrivals to northern Iraq.
    According to the statement "As a result of these procedures, 4 suspects were arrested in Diyala province, who wanted to smuggle an amount of money estimated at $138,000," stressing that "the accusers were heading with the money to the northern provinces."
    He pointed out, "to take the necessary legal measures against them."
    The intelligence agency, according to the statement, called on citizens to call the hotline 144 to provide information about outlaws.
