President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed on Thursday the importance of cooperation in various fields, including the water issue with Turkey.
The presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received, today, at the Baghdad Palace, the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq Ali Reza Guney".
During the meeting, the president stressed "the importance of strengthening relations and joint work between the two countries to consolidate cooperation in various fields, especially economic, trade and the water file, in order to ensure the achievement of common interests through bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding concluded in this regard".
For his part, ambassador Ali Reza Guney expressed "Turkey's support for the security and stability of Iraq and the prosperity of its people," stressing his country's aspiration to "develop the existing ties in various fields".
