Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security today to discuss the latest security developments and challenges.

The meeting discussed transforming the federal police forces into a military-style system, and assigning them tasks less than those of the army and more than those of the police. This decision came after the forces demonstrated their professionalism and success in defeating ISIS terrorist gangs. As a result, they were assigned additional security and military duties to further showcase their commitment to these security roles.

In a separate matter, the Council approved regulations for tinting vehicle windows. A committee within the Ministry of the Interior was formed to set specific guidelines, tinting requirements, permissible percentage, and eligible individuals. Additionally, the number of vehicles allowed to be tinted was defined, and these regulations include citizens as well.

The Council reviewed the Ministry of Interior's report on reducing security details for officials.

Other topics on the council's agenda were discussed, and relevant decisions and directives were made accordingly.
