PM issues directives to revitalize tourism sector in Iraq

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani issued today, Wednesday, directives to revitalize the tourism sector in Iraq.
     
    The media office of the Prime Minister said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani presided today, a meeting that included the Minister of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Heritage, and the heads of the tourism, antiquities and heritage bodies and the advanced cadres in it," noting that " During the meeting, they reviewed the reality of tourism in Iraq and the most prominent problems and obstacles that prevent the development of this important sector, with all the ingredients for its success, whether in the field of religious tourism or other tourism fields.
     
    During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed "the importance of tourism and the need to promote it, because it represents a civilized destination for the country, as well as its role in economic development, job creation, and its contribution to enhancing the national product," noting that "one of the government's priorities is economic reform, addressing the economy is one-sided, and diversified by activating vital sectors, including the tourism sector, which the government is keen to revitalize for the next stage, based on its government program.
     
     Prime Minister directed "to hold an ongoing workshop that defines the objectives of the tourism sector in all its forms, and lists the requirements for its advancement," stressing "the importance of involving the private sector in the prepared tourism plans."
     
    Al-Sudani directed the Tourism Authority to "work to develop the capabilities of specialized cadres in tourism, and to keep abreast of the latest developments in this sector globally."
