Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani Meets Ambassadors and Diplomatic Missions Representatives in Iraq

    Today, Monday, Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani received the European Union Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions from several friendly countries.
     
    During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of rejecting hate speech and extremism, particularly practices that offend the sanctities and beliefs of peoples. He cited incidents of desecration of the Holy Quran and the Iraqi flag, underscoring the threats these actions pose to security and community peace. Highlighting the significance of freedom of expression, he also urged European Union countries to play an active role in combating such racist acts and any form of incitement to violence.
     
    Al-Sudani reaffirmed the government's commitment and determination to safeguard the security and safety of all diplomatic missions in Baghdad. He emphasized Iraq's responsibility in adhering to the guidelines outlined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic
    Relations to ensure the protection of these missions.
     
    The Prime Minister reiterated the government's dedication to supporting foreign companies in Iraq, aiming to foster a conducive environment for their work. The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of upholding economic agreements and nurturing partnerships with nations across the globe.
     
    Al-Sudani underscored the government's commitment to pursuing a balanced foreign policy with both regional and global countries. Iraq's stance is to avoid being entangled in conflicts or becoming a battleground for settling disputes. Instead, the country is eager to assert its leadership role in the region and act as a center for cooperation and forging partnerships. To achieve this, the government aims to manage relations with a policy of balance, and it has recently proposed strategic projects, including the Development Road project and energy initiatives. These projects seek to foster economic integration with neighboring countries, ultimately contributing to bolstering regional and international security and stability.
     
    For their part, the Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Iraq reiterated their countries' condemnation of the heinous crime of burning the Holy Quran. They also expressed appreciation for the government's efforts in safeguarding diplomatic missions and welcomed the measures taken for their protection. They conveyed their countries' readiness to maintain and strengthen economic cooperation with Iraq. The diplomats expressed satisfaction with the notable advancements made in various areas, including public service delivery, anti-corruption measures, and the effective implementation of the government program.
