President Rashid condemns burning the holy Quran and the Iraqi flag

    President of the Republic, Abdullatif Rashid, condemned on Thursday burning the holy Quran and the Iraqi flag.

    The Presidency of the Republic said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, strongly condemns the irresponsible behavior of trying to repeat the attack Quran burning  and the flag of the Iraqi state, and expresses great astonishment at the failure of the Swedish authorities to take the required position from the state Beliefs and sanctities are respected."

    The statement added, "The president was keen to warn the authorities in Sweden, directly and through diplomatic channels, in order to respect the feelings of Muslims and prevent this deviant behavior," pointing out that "he stresses here again that the Kingdom of Sweden looks responsibly for what is happening and what prevents a violation the right of Muslims on all continents to respect and venerate their sanctities in the same way they respect the sanctities of any human being on the planet and his right to belief and faith."

    It indicated that "the President of the Republic supports, in these circumstances, the right of peaceful and informed expression to protest against these behaviors, while observing respect for the country's responsibilities in maintaining diplomatic traditions and adhering to international norms and laws."
