President Rashid Meets British Ambassador

    The President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid On Tuesday, met with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson-Richardson on the occasion of the end of his mission in Iraq. The meeting was held at Baghdad Palace.
     
    The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “President Rashid asked the UK Ambassador to convey his greetings to the King of the United Kingdom, Charles III, at the beginning of the meeting. He also wished the ambassador all the best and success in his upcoming diplomatic engagements, hailing his efforts during his time in Iraq to strengthen relations between the two countries.
     
    “As part of the meeting, President Rashid emphasized the importance of strengthening Iraq-UK bilateral relations, with a focus on developing constructive cooperation on the issues of mutual concern that serve the interests of the two friendly nations”, the statement continued.
     
     
    While saying that Iraq's situation has been marked by security and stability over the past few years, president Rashid stressed the importance of encouraging British companies to work and invest in the country.
     
    A key point raised by the President was the importance of cooperation between Iraqi and British universities, as well as the benefits of learning from the experiences of British universities in the areas of water, climate, and energy.
     
    Aside from affirming the strength of bilateral relations, the British Ambassador reaffirmed the commitment of his country to continue to support Iraq in a wide range of areas. These focus on the fight against terrorism and tackling climate change.
     
    In addition, the Ambassador confirmed that British companies are willing to work in Iraq and execute a number of vital projects there.
     
    As well, he expressed gratitude and appreciation for president Rashid enthusiastic support of his efforts to consolidate relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and to facilitate the performance of his duties.
