PM Al-Sudani Receives Chairman of TotalEnergies

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with Mr. Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of French energy company TotalEnergies, today.
 
The media office of the prime minister said in a statement received by the Iraqi News ADuring their meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani and Pouyanné discussed the recent contract between Iraq and TotalEnergies.
 
The Prime Minister commended the implementation steps on the ground and highlighted the government's significant progress in fulfilling commitments and reaching this stage. He emphasized that the contract with TotalEnergies, as well as the fifth licensing round, aligns with Iraq's vision and strategy to invest in gas, an area where Iraq had been delayed in initiating investments.
 
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to forging substantial partnerships with major companies in order to invest in natural resources. He emphasized the importance of harnessing the potential of associated gas, highlighting it as a key focus area.
 
Mr. Pouyanné expressed his company's strong commitment to extensive cooperation with Iraq and conveyed their confidence in establishing a successful partnership in the energy sector. He emphasized their willingness to invest in promising and ambitious sectors within this field. Furthermore, Pouyanné assured that the technical teams from TotalEnergies would commence their work on-site within a matter of days.
