MOFA and Iran are discussing the files of gas dues, Shatt al-Arab

    The Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Amir Hussein Abdollahian, the files of gas dues, Shatt al-Arab, and border demarcation.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Hussein met Abdullahian today, on the sidelines of his participation in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, which is being held in Baku for the period from 5-6 July 2023, and the two sides discussed ways to improve the prospects for cooperation." Bilateral, and strategic coordination between the two countries towards regional and international issues.

    Hussein said, according to the statement, that "the stability of relations in the region is in the interest of the two countries as well as the region," referring to "the security commitment that was recently signed between the two sides and its entry into force.".

    The ministry stated, "The two sides touched on the issue of Iranian gas dues and the continued provision of it, to avoid a shortage in the supply of electric power, especially in the summer, and work will be done to overcome the obstacles that prevent this technical difference between the two sides.

    For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed that the relations between the two countries are at their best, and that the various files between the two sides are progressing in a good condition, offering his thanks for the role of Iraq, its government and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in normalizing relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
