Al-Maliki receives the Iran Deputy Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation

    The head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, confirmed on Wednesday, that the region is witnessing the beginning of a new phase, while indicating that Iraq is on the verge of a campaign to complete the construction and reconstruction process.

    The media office of al-Maliki said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, received in his office today Wednesday ,Iran Deputy Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri, and his accompanying delegation," noting that "during the meeting, the future of historical relations between Iraq was discussed and Iran, and the need to strengthen it to include various fields and for the mutual benefit of the two neighboring countries."

    Al-Maliki stressed that "the region is witnessing a state of stability and represents the beginning of a new phase, especially with the resumption of Iranian-Saudi relations, which would contribute to easing tension in the region, and its positive impact on Iraq," referring to "the efforts made by Iraq, as Baghdad hosted Several rounds of negotiations between the two parties."

    The statement  continued, "Iraq seeks to take advantage of the positive conditions in the region, especially as it is on the verge of a campaign to complete the construction and reconstruction process and looks forward to the support of brotherly and friendly countries, with the aim of expanding the horizons of cooperation with everyone, as well as working to complete the agreements and memorandums of understanding concluded between Iraq and Iran and in various countries domains."

    For his part, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed "the importance of developing relations between the two countries and expanding the horizons of cooperation in a way that serves the common interests of the two neighboring peoples," pointing out that "important discussions were held between Baghdad and Tehran on strengthening cooperation and resolving outstanding issues between the two countries, especially in the energy file."
