Al-Sahhaf: The Iraqi-Iranian consultations round dealt with files, including security and regional developments

    The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, confirmed today, Tuesday,  that the round of Iraqi-Iranian consultations dealt with files, including security and regional developments.
     
     
    Al-Sahhaf said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq and Iran held a round of political consultations on today 7/4/2023 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Iraqi side was headed by the Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Affairs, Ambassador Muhammad Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum, while the Iranian side was headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Baqri Kuni, and the participation of the Iranian Ambassador, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq, and the two sides discussed all bilateral, regional and international issues, and deliberated on ways and means to overcome obstacles to bilateral cooperation at various levels.
    According to the statement "The consultations focused on the security and political files, such as the war on terrorism and not allowing the use of lands to attack neighbors and arranging high-level visits for Iraqi and Iranian officials and, facilitation of procedures for consular work was also discussed, with the aim of making the Arbaeen visit a success."
     
    Al-Sahhaf pointed out, "It was decided to hold the next round of political consultations in Tehran next year to discuss the progress made in all relevant files."
