Rashid stresses the need to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and Iran in the fields of energy and trade

    President Abdul Latif Rashid stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of strengthening cooperation between Iraq and Iran in the fields of energy and trade.
     
     The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the President of the Republic received, at the Baghdad Palace, the delegation of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Undersecretary for Affairs Ali Baqri Kuni, who conveyed, at the beginning of the meeting, the greetings and appreciation of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and the Iranian leadership to the President of the Republic, while the President of the Republic, conveyed Baqri Kuni his greetings and appreciation to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, and to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the Iranian leadership, wishing continued prosperity and progress for the Iranian people.
    The President of the Republic expressed his "thanks to the Islamic Republic for its stances in support Iraq," stressing the importance of "coordination and cooperation between the two neighboring countries on issues of common concern."
    He pointed out that "the openness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the countries of the region and the restoration of relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a positive factor for the consolidation of security and peace," pointing to the need to "strengthen cooperation in the fields of energy and trade."
    For his part, the Undersecretary of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs stressed the importance of "developing relations between the two countries and expanding the prospects of cooperation in a way that serves the common interests of the two neighboring peoples, and that Iraq and Iran have a great history of joint cooperation."
    The Undersecretary pointed to "the great capabilities of the two countries and their pivotal role in the region in consolidating security and stability," expressing his thanks and appreciation for the President's keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries and the constructive and strategic view on developments in the region, and he also praised the positions of the late President Mam Jalal Talabani and his support for relations between the two countries. .
    In this context, the President of the Republic confirmed, "The late President Mam Jalal considered cooperation and coordination with Iran the main pillar for stabilizing security in the region."
