Adviser to PM announces approving the study of the Italian company for Development Road

    Advisor to Prime Minister for Transport Affairs Nasser Al-Asadi announced Thursday, the approval of the study of the Italian company for the Development Road, and while stressing that European and Asian countries have entered strongly on the project, he pointed out that Syria has renewed its demand to open a path for the road through its territory.

    Al-Asadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the study presented by the Italian company concerning the Development Road was approved, and the economic feasibility study that Iraq will achieve from the project was carried out."

    Regarding the financing of the project, Al-Asadi stressed that "the government is open to all directions, and the project has not been restricted in a certain direction, whether the investment is from the state, the World Bank, investors or neighboring countries," noting that "Iraq is in the process of negotiating with countries, and there is an increase in the number of countries interested in the project.”

    He added that "countries are beginning to understand the value of the road and discuss the exact details of the project," pointing out that "European and Asian countries have begun to intervene strongly on the project."

    He pointed out that "Syria renewed its demand today, to open a path for the Road of Development through its territory," noting that "the road will extend from Faysh Khabur to Turkey and then to Europe."

    He pointed out that "Iraq will be a major economic and development corridor in the region, and China will enter with Iraq in the project," stressing that "the period of completion of the development road project will not exceed 5 years."
