Minister of Labor and Social Affairs - MOLSA, Ahmed Al-Asadi, confirmed that small and medium enterprises play a prominent role in the economy.
Al-Asadi delivered a speech during the International Labor Organization conference in Geneva, which was received in a statement by the Iraqi News Agency - INA where it included that "the Iraqi government, via MOLSA, has always addressed social phenomena such as poverty and unemployment through programs and systems represented in social protection by granting subsidies to the poor classes, taking care of people with disabilities and making them among the priorities of the government program."
"All this came in accordance with international agreements and charters. In addition to increasing the capital of the lending fund to support small and medium enterprises by about one trillion and 200 billion dinars, in order to help young job seekers by granting them soft loans to establish real productive projects," adding "The ministry also grants the salary of a full-time assistant to more than 222 thousand citizens. Opening the e-submission of people with disabilities, as more than 400,000 citizens have applied, and we are researching 1,800,000 new families according to population density and the poverty line, as 600,000 new families will be included this year."
