President Rashid: Iraq pays attention to the Palestinian cause and supports it in international forums

President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid confirmed today, Sunday, that Iraq pays attention to the Palestinian cause and supports it in international forums.

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "The President of the Republic, Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the Palestinian ambassador to Iraq, Ahmed Aqel," noting that "at the outset of the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid, while Rashid conveyed the ambassador his greetings and appreciation to the Palestinian President.

The statement added, "The meeting discussed developments in the political situation in the region, bilateral and historical relations between the two peoples, and the situation of the Palestinian community in Iraq."

The President of the Republic affirmed that "Iraq pays attention to the Palestinian cause and supports it in all international forums in order for the Palestinian people to obtain their full rights."

For his part, Ambassador Ahmed Aqel thanked the President of the Republic for his concern and support for the rights of the Palestinian people, stressing the keenness and desire of his country, government and people, to consolidate cooperation and brotherly relations with Iraq and its brotherly people.

The ambassador renewed the invitation to the President of the Republic to visit the Palestinian territories, pointing to the importance of Iraq's role in adopting and activating the Arab League's decisions regarding the Palestinian issue.
