MOT: The government welcomes China's participation in the Development Road

    INA - BAGHDAD 

    Minister of Transportation Razak Moheibis Al-Saadawi confirmed Wednesday, that the government welcomes China's participation in the Development Road.

    Al-Saadawi received in his office on Wednesday, the Ambassador of the Republic of China to Iraq, Cui Wei, and discussed with him ways of joint cooperation between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Transportation, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

    "The Iraqi government seeks to develop cooperation and joint coordination between Baghdad and Beijing, as it is also working to increase trade exchange between the two countries," said Al-Saadawi, adding that "our government welcomes China's participation in the Development Road project, within the framework of implementation and investment, as the project serves Iraq and the rest of the region including China, and guarantees the reduction of time, effort and cost."

    He included, "Our government welcomes Beijing's participation in the Development Road project, and the door is open to all countries to participate in the project, led by China, and the Iraqi government aspires for China to have an active contribution to the work and activities of the Development Road project, based on the great confidence in the expertise of major Chinese companies, especially in areas of transport, investment and infrastructure," noting that "we are planning to hold a second conference on the Development Road, and we will invite China to participate in it."

    In turn, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Cui Wei, expressed his happiness at meeting the Minister of Transport, stressing that "good relations link Baghdad and Beijing, and that China aspires for more cooperation and coordination between the two countries at all levels," expressing "a clear interest in knowing many of the details and elements of the Development Road project."
