Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission discuss anti-corruption efforts

    Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Mohammed, and Chairman of the Media and Communications Commission, Ali Al-Muayyad, discussed on Tuesday ways to support the media as a crucial partner in anti-corruption efforts.
     
    The media office of the Ministry of Finance stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Finance received the head of the Media and Communications Authority, and the meeting discussed ways to support the media as a key partner in anti-corruption efforts, discussing a number of common files, and stressing the need to monitor and following up the media because of its direct impact on the orientation of the citizen.
     
    And the Minister of Finance praised, according to the statement, "the cooperation of the Media and Communications Authority and its openness to government initiatives in its various forms, and its adoption of media and cultural events and the promotion of social activities during exceptional periods."
    In turn, the head of the Media and Communications Authority indicated, "There are efforts to adopt a new strategy in combating news and misleading information that represents an obstacle to the performance of the work of many media institutions, as well as its negative impact on all audiences in society, in coordination with the Media and Communications Authority."
