Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced considering reactivating scholarships while noting that the total number of abroad students is estimated at 100,000.

"Scholarships in the Ministry are still under study to be reactivated, and there are not a few numbers of Iraqi students distributed in various universities in the world. It is linked with the Iraqi state by contractual requirements because they were sent under a clear program, and when they return from their studies. They will join their jobs or be employed according to their specializations," said the Ministry's spokesman Haider Al-Aboudi to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Al-Aboudi added, "Part of the students were sent within the scholarship programs that the state bears the expenses of, and the other part within the fellowships and scholarships that are offered to Iraq. The third part falls at the student's own expense, and the total number of students outside Iraq is about 100,000 students distributed to the countries around the world at the level of primary and higher studies."

"The numbers of scholarship students vary annually according to the donor countries that offer paid study seats, and the Ministry of Education provides part of the expenses, and the balance of the Ministry of Education from students outside Iraq is a positive balance that achieves its goals in terms of sustainable development," he included.
