Al-Sudani issues 14 directives regarding insured workers in the private sector

    The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, issued 14 directives related to insured workers in the private sector.

    The Director of the Office of the Prime Minister, Ihsan Yassin Al-Awadi, said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani directed, and as part of the implementation of the government program in caring for and supporting the elderly of the working class, which spent their lives in legitimate earning and provided labor service in various sectors throughout the previous periods, to take (duly necessary action).

    He added, "The directives included:

    1. Inclusion of the segment of workers (covered by the Social Security Law and registered with the Social Security Department) from the private sector and their retirees, by allocating residential plots of land for non-beneficiaries previously, similar to the segment of employees and retirees of the public sector.

    2. Resolving the subject of the sums of money owed by the segment above and simplifying the procedures necessary to complete them, and within a period of time not exceeding (30) days from the date of issuance of our letter.

    3. Adopting electronic payment methods in disbursing the salaries and dues of the aforementioned segment.

    4. Include the above segment with soft loans and provide the necessary legal and financial facilities for that.

    5. Including insured retirees (covered by the Social Security Law and registered with the Social Security Department) from the private sector at a discount rate of (25%) from tickets on the national carrier (two way) once a year, similar to the segment of public sector retirees.


    6. Granting insured retirees (covered by the Social Security Law and registered with the Social Security Department) from the private sector priority for treatment and health care at the expense of the state for special cases, similar to the segment of public sector retirees. The Ministry of Health is in charge of outlining and announcing the services that can be provided to this segment.

    7. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs organizes a central celebration on the occasion of (May 1) of each year, International Labor Day, and honoring distinguished workers, in addition to a group of activities to celebrate the occasion.


    8. Coordination between the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works and the Municipality of Baghdad to create appropriate squares in Baghdad and the provinces for erecting memorials that embody the role of the worker and highlight his impact on society, and naming public squares or streets with the names of distinguished workers.

    9. Assigning the Council of Advisors in the Presidency of the Cabinet to develop a draft decision regulating the mechanism for benefiting from the services of workers in the public sector, and regulating the transition between the public and private sectors.

    10. The above draft decision includes an increase in the minimum wage for workers to match their peers working in the public sector.

    11. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs shall establish a regulation of labor behavior to regulate working hours, the work environment, workers' rights and obligations, the worker's age, and appropriate jobs according to professional and technical specializations, and scientific and practical experience.

    12. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is responsible for monitoring the implementation of labor and labor laws and relevant international instruments, in addition to the Labor Code of Conduct, and subsequently issues a periodic bulletin containing the above.

    13. Organizing development courses and workshops in various fields and sectors, in a way that contributes to improving the performance of employees and developing their skills.

    14. Preparing documentaries and cinematic films, specialized audio-visual programmes, and publications of all kinds, as well as articles and contributions through social networking programs that explain the importance of work and the factor in the renaissance of nations and the sustainability of life.
