Al-Sahhaf: Iraqi Foreign Ministry welcomes the agreement of Qatar and Bahrain to restore diplomatic relations

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, affirmed on Friday, that the ministry welcomed the agreement of Qatar and Bahrain to restore diplomatic relations.

Al-Sahaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Qatar regarding the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and the provisions of the Vienna Treaty on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 AD."

He added, "The ministry affirms that this agreement enhances regional stability and security in the region in general and for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in particular."
