The Ministry of Transport announced its intention to purchase two French Falcon Dassault aircraft to strengthen the national carrier's fleet.
The ministry stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that, "Within the framework of its work to strengthen the fleet of the national carrier with modern and advanced aircraft of various models, the Ministry of Transport intends to purchase two French Falcon Dassault aircraft, with advanced specifications.".
"Based on the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, to follow up on files of great importance in the work of Iraqi Airways, a ministerial committee was formed to follow up the contract for the purchase of French aircraft, headed by the Director General of the Planning and Follow-up Department, Abbas Omran Musa," noting that "the head of The Ministerial Committee held a meeting with representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Oil, a representative of the Prime Minister's Office and a representative of the General Company for Iraqi Airways, to discuss the purchase of the two planes, in a way that enhances the fleet of the national carrier, according to the development plan set by the Ministry of Transport, under the supervision of His Excellency the Minister". The ministry added.
The French Falcon Dassault aircraft are characterized by advanced international specifications, and are characterized by their high performance in the world of aircraft.
For its part, the Ministry of Oil pledged, during the meeting, to study the possibility of operating these aircraft, which will be a carrier designated for VIP transportation.
