    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein and European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen, discussed on Tuesday, 6 files, including the green economy and renewable energy.

    The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with the European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen, on the sidelines of the meetings of the third session of the Cooperation Council between Iraq and the European Union, which was held In the capital, Brussels, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, the Head of the Europe Department, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the European Union, the Director General of the Iraqi Fund for Foreign Development and the representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Brussels, noting that “issues of common interest were discussed, including strengthening the role of the private sector in Iraq, and the transition towards a green economy and renewable energy, and the digitization of the Iraqi economy in the financial, commercial, agricultural and energy sectors, and assistance in building capabilities and infrastructure, especially supporting the youth and women segments."

    The statement added, "The need for Iraq to join the financial institutions of the European Union, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank, was emphasized, due to its important role in gaining the confidence of European investors and supporting and facilitating the investment process in Iraq," noting that the two sides stressed the importance of The Fourth Committee for Development Cooperation emanating from the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, whose establishment was announced during the meetings of the Cooperation Council."

    "The two sides stressed coordination of cooperation and agreed to hold the first meeting of the committee's chairmen and members as soon as possible in order to set features and plans for cooperation," It continued.
