The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA at the Ministry of Interior announced Thursday the seizure of more than one million liters of oil derivatives and 14 sites in different governorates.
A statement by FIIA received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated, "The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency in the Ministry of Interior continues its proactive operations to reduce cases of smuggling of oil and its derivatives, and based on accurate intelligence information and separate operations, the agency's detachments were able to thwart an operation to steal oil products in an amount of more than one million liters.”
It added, "Illegal oil factories and sites have been seized, used for trading and recycling oil and its derivatives, and contain iron and plastic tanks of large sizes and of different capacities that contain oil products and in different quantities within the governorates: (Basra _ Baghdad _ Diyala _ Kirkuk_ Najaf _ Al-Anbar), indicating that "the detachments were also able to seize vehicles of the type of tanks and basins with their drivers loaded with oil and its derivatives unofficially.”
It stressed, "The seized materials were dealt with duly and handed over with the accused to the concerned authorities, and the necessary measures were taken to complete the investigative papers."
