First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, discussed today, Sunday, with an Iranian delegation the water and electricity files and the expansion of trade exchange.
The media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi received in his office today the heads of the Economic Committee and the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Islamic Shura Council, in the presence of the head of the Security Committee, and the Parliamentary Defense (Abbas Al-Zamili), and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee (Hassanin Al-Khafaji).
Al-Mandalawi emphasized "the necessity of overcoming obstacles to reach serious and urgent understandings regarding the water and electricity file and expanding trade exchange, as well as securing borders and revitalizing bilateral agreements in the economic, investment, political and parliamentary fields."
Al-Mandalawi welcomed "the return of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its positive impact in serving the interests of the two peoples and the region, and a factor of stability in the situation throughout the Middle East."
For his part, the Iranian delegation appreciated Iraq's role in facilitating the resumption of relations with Saudi Arabia, stressing that Iraq's growth and prosperity contributes to strengthening the security of the region.
He extended an invitation to the First Vice President to visit Tehran to deepen cooperation and exchange experiences, thanking "the Iraqi government and people for the kind reception of the guests during the million visits."
