The Joint Operations Command JOC announced that the cell that was targeted in Tuz Khurmato was intending to carry out some terrorist operations, and while it indicated that the Diyala governorate is safe and stable and the situation is under control, it confirmed that the security forces have the capabilities and ability to undermine terrorist gangs.

The spokesman for the joint operations, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The security situation in Diyala is controlled by the security forces, as the Diyala Operations Command carries out proactive and qualitative operations to hunt down terrorists and anyone who tries to tamper with societal peace."

He added, "The recent qualitative operations carried out by the Diyala Operations Command, through intelligence information of the National Intelligence Service, and by the Iraqi Air Force in the Tuz Khurmatu district, resulted in the killing of a number of terrorists, a terrorist cell that was intending to carry out some terrorist operations in that region."

He pointed out, "The security forces have the capabilities and ability to undermine terrorist gangs and impose stability and security throughout Diyala province."

He stressed, "Diyala province is safe and stable, and Diyala enjoys an extensive security deployment, and there is a great work being done by the Diyala Operations Command of all kinds. There is also a role for the Diyala police and its high capabilities in confronting anyone who tries to harm social peace."

He pointed out, "There is a high-quality camera system and a security and technical system in Diyala governorate, in addition to the great interest in the possibility of raising and increasing technical efforts."

He also stated, "Security plans depend on the type of challenges, so when there are challenges, there is a change and tactic in our procedures, capabilities, and our plans and directions change to chase terrorism and confront anyone who tries to harm Diyala's security."
