The commander of the ground forces, Lieutenant General Qassem Al-Muhammadi, directed the intensification of military operations in the Diyala sector.
A statement of the command, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: "The commander of the ground forces, Lieutenant General Qassem Al-Muhammadi, inspected the division of the Diyala Operations Command, and he was received by the operations commander, the commander of the 1st Infantry Division, and a number of commanders of formations and units in the command."
Al-Muhammadi stressed, according to the statement, a number of directives, including the need to intensify military operations to crack down remnants of the terrorist Daesh, and to benefit from the intelligence effort to obtain information about the enemy and its most important movements.
The statement continued, "Al-Muhammadi was briefed on the deployment of the units and the places of opening in line with the size of the enemy's threat with the need to fortify defensive positions, and listened to the most important needs to reach the best levels of combat readiness for the units."
The commander of the ground forces conducted a reconnaissance tour of the location of the air strike, which was carried out by the Air Force's planes, on February 23, 2023 within Hawi Al `Azim, in the separating borders of the Diyala and Salah al-Din Operations Commands.
