Speaker of the Parliament Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani confirmed on Monday that Iraq is committed to supporting the issues of the Arab nation, especially Palestine.
Al-Mashhadani and his accompanying delegation visited the building of the Jordanian Senate, where he was received by the Speaker of the House Faisal Al-Fayez, said the media office of the Speaker of the Parliament in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of important topics related to political, economic, and security affairs in the region, in addition to ways to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Al-Mashhadani asserted "the importance of Arab unity and continuous cooperation between Arab countries," stressing "the need to exchange information and coordination between legislative councils to enhance the region's ability to face challenges."
He called for "strengthening Arab unity in the face of successive crises. Iraq is committed to supporting the issues of the Arab nation, especially the Palestinian issue."
“Iraq rejects any attempts to displace Palestinian citizens from their land. There is a need to confront the displacement campaign that the Palestinian people are being subjected to. We will not allow any party to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands and we will stand together in supporting their legitimate rights,” he highlighted.
In turn, the President of the Jordanian Senate Faisal Al-Fayez welcomed Al-Mashhadani and the accompanying parliamentary delegation.
He stressed “Jordan's firm position in supporting the unity of the Syrian people", focusing on "the importance of supporting Syria in the process of construction and reconstruction after years of war".
The two sides asserted “the importance of continuing cooperation between the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Jordanian Senate in various political and economic fields and working together to enhance security and stability in the Arab region".
