INA – BAGHDAD
Joint Ops Command announced on Wednesday, the killing of 12 terrorists with preemptive strikes to secure the visit of Imam Al-Kadhim "PBUH" for commemorating his martyrdom, while it indicated that the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammed S. Al-Sudani, to open the Green Zone gates to visitors will reduce the momentum and provide flexibility for the security plan.
"In the past hours, the security forces carried out preemptive air strikes and specific operations to secure the visit in the north, west and southwest of Baghdad, which resulted in the killing of 12 terrorists," said the spokesman for the Joint Operations Command, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, to Al-Iraqiya News TV, followed by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He noted that "there may be operations outside Baghdad, but they are related to the plan to secure the visit because it is linked to securing the way to the capital, where the shrine of Imam al-Kadhim, peace be upon him."
"The Joint Ops Command held a meeting that included all the security agencies to coordinate on securing the visit and assigning roles. There is high coordination among them, and we are ready to deal with the increase in the number of visitors.”
He asserted, “The decision of the Commander-in-Chief to open the street linking the Al-Alawi area and the suspension bridge to visitors, is to reduce the momentum and provide greater flexibility to the security plan.”
