The Iraqi parliamentary delegation concludes its solidarity visit to Damascus

    The Iraqi parliamentary delegation, which included 18 deputies, headed by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, concluded today, Saturday, its solidarity visit to Syria.

    A statement by the media office of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "during the visit, a meeting took place with the Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hammouda Al-Sabbagh, his deputy, and a number of Syrian deputies, where a solidarity stand was organized inside the parliament and speeches were delivered that expressed the depth of the brotherly relationship between the two peoples.

    The statement added that "the delegation also met with Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, where the Iraqi delegation offered condolences to the Syrian government and the Syrian people for the fall of dozens of victims as a result of the earthquake that struck some cities in the north of the country," noting that "the latest developments in rescue and relief operations and their needs for supplies were discussed." And oil derivatives and the importance of continuing to bridge the aid sent from Iraq to Syria.

    The statement continued, "The Iraqi delegation concluded its agenda by visiting Sayyida Zainab (peace be upon her) and meeting with a number of Iraqi visitors who demanded intervention to facilitate their entry to Damascus through the land borders."
