Rashid stresses to Lavrov of the importance of consolidating stability through peaceful solutions

    President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov the importance of consolidating stability through peaceful solutions and constructive dialogue.
     
    A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, that "The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his accompanying delegation," noting that "during the meeting, they discussed means to strengthen bilateral relations, and prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries, in addition to reviewing developments in regional and international events.
     
    The President of the Republic stressed, according to the statement, "the need to strengthen and develop relations in areas of a strategic and vital nature, and the importance of consolidating stability through peaceful solutions and constructive dialogue," pointing to "the importance of advancing economic cooperation between the two countries, in addition to the need for coordination and consultation on issues of common interest to enhance security and peace in the region and the world.
     
    Rashid praised "Russia's positions in support of Iraq in its war against terrorism and its efforts to protect its security," stressing in this context "the depth of relations between the two countries."
     
     
    He stressed that "Iraq seeks to build balanced relations with all countries of the world in a way that achieves common interests," noting that "the government program encourages building bridges of cooperation and relations with everyone."
     
    For his part, Lavrov appreciated "Iraq's position calling for dialogue, avoiding crises, and giving priority to peace options instead of wars," stressing "his country's support for Iraq, and its serious desire to strengthen relations between the two countries, expand cooperation frameworks in the economic and military fields, and rehabilitate infrastructure."
