Foreign Minister to an Iranian official: Iraq proceeds in its relations with neighboring countries based on common interests

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein confirmed to the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Mehdi Safri, today, Sunday that Iraq proceeds in its relations with neighboring countries based on common interests.
     
     
    The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received this evening, Mahdi Safri, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy and his accompanying delegation," pointing out that "it was During the meeting, they discussed files of common interest.
    According to the statement "The two sides discussed the challenges facing the region," stressing that "during the meeting, the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the two countries was stressed, especially in the energy file, as Iraq imports gas from neighboring Iran to strengthen its national electrical system."
    The minister indicated, according to the statement, that "Iraq begins its relationship with neighboring countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on common interests, and in a way that enhances the Iraqi national interest."
