Iraq and France signed a memorandum of understanding in the French capital, Paris, in the field of combating corruption, within the framework of the official visit of Prime Minister Muhammad S. Al-Sudani to France.
A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the head of the Integrity Commission signed the memorandum on the Iraqi side, while the head of the French Anti-Corruption Agency signed it on the French side," noting that "the memorandum included a number of paragraphs related to joint cooperation between the two countries." In the field of combating corruption, exchanging information and investigating corruption crimes and limiting its spread, recovering stolen and smuggled Iraqi funds before and after 2003, as well as recovering those wanted in corruption cases, and combating money laundering operations.
He added, "The memorandum also included axes for technical cooperation to prevent and combat corruption, enhance expertise, and develop and improve anti-corruption strategies and policies.".
