The President of the Republic receives the Russian ambassador to Iraq

    President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid confirmed today, Monday, that the security situation in Iraq has improved from what it was in the past.
     
    The Presidency of the Republic said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the President of the Republic, Abdul al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, at the Baghdad Palace, the Ambassador of the Republic of Russia to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev."
     
     The President of the Republic confirmed that "the security situation in Iraq has improved from what it was in the past," noting that "during his visits to the governorates of Basra and Nineveh, he witnessed clear progress in the necessary services, while the city of Basra successfully hosted the Gulf Cup 25 Championship."
     
    "This is a positive indication that the situation is going according to what we plan to do," he added.
     
    Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, the President stressed "the necessity of ending the war, starting negotiations between the two parties, giving priority to the positive dialogue, and adopting diplomatic solutions to the crisis in a way that achieves security and stability for the two countries and the region."
     
    In turn, the Russian ambassador renewed his country's desire to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation between the two countries, reviewing the latest developments regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.
