Basra-INA
With feelings of hope and pride, I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the teams participating in the 25 Gulf Cup Championship hosted by our beloved Basra and the outstanding generosity of its people.
We extended our thanks to every guest of our brothers in the Gulf countries who stayed in Iraq and every sports team that honored us with their participation. We thank all media teams, all technical teams, and all organizers who came to our country. We say to them, do it again; you will find nothing but open doors and loving hearts.
I want to thank the loyal Iraqi football fans and the fans of the participating teams for their cooperation, efforts, and continued support in making this unprecedented tournament a success in terms of the size of attendance that the largest stadiums in the world cannot accommodate.
Salutes to every Iraqi who contributed to representing their country most beautifully with their commitment and cooperation; as a result, they demonstrated kindness and selflessness. Today, they lead our society with confident steps toward the future. The masses have contributed to affirming Iraq's status, raising its name as a beacon among brothers and friends, and recording this wonderful experience in history that is well deserved by the people of Mesopotamia.
We also highly appreciate the remarkable performance of our security forces from all branches, services, and capabilities. They dedicated themselves, efforts, and performance, not only at the tournament's opening ceremony but also weeks and months before that, and did so much to make it a success. I want to commend the performance of the Basra governorate with all its government services. And the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Iraqi Football Association for all they have done.
Today we bid farewell to the 25th Gulf Cup Championship, but no one will bid farewell to Basra. No one will leave it without returning to it again. We are also saddened by the unfortunate incidents that took place and hurt the joyful hearts. We pray for the souls of innocent victims. May God grant them mercy and bestow upon the injured a speedy recovery.
