Olaf Scholz: We support the establishment of stable infrastructure for the electricity sector in Iraq

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz affirmed, today, Friday, his country's support for the establishment of stable infrastructure for the electricity sector in Iraq. 

"It was agreed on a work program for cooperation between Germany and Iraq," Schultz said, during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, stressing his country's support for diversifying the economy and sources of national income in the country.

His country supports the focus of the new government in Iraq on economic reforms and job creation," expressing "welcome to the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity's agreement with Siemens to modernize the system in Iraq.".

He stressed, "We support the establishment of stable infrastructure for the electricity sector in Iraq," pointing out, " It is possible for Iraq to be a partner in the supply of oil and gas.”.

On climate change, Schultz indicated, “Iraq is one of the countries affected by climate change, and reliance on renewable energy must be increased,” explaining that “ The immigration file was also discussed and how cooperation can be made to return Iraqi immigrants who wish to return.
