The Ministry of Interior confirmed Friday that the Joint Operations Command is responsible for the security plan for Gulf Cup 25, while indicating that its procedures are continuing to secure and support the opening of Gulf Cup 25.
The Director of the Relations and Media Department at the Ministry of Interior and Head of the Security Media Cell, Major General Dr. Saad Maan, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Joint Operations Command is responsible for the security plan for Gulf Cup 25."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Interior has deployed all its mechanisms, efforts, officers and affiliates from public traffic and its community police, stadium security, Basra Police Command and Basra operations, in addition to the support of the Ministry of Defense, National Security and Intelligence to support the championship."
Maan added, "Within a few hours, the tournament will start and all indicators are successful," noting that "there is a division for combating rumors that is working very hard to prevent media misinformation that some are trying to promote and spread old information."
"it is worth mentioning that this afternoon, the 25th Gulf Cup will start in Basra Governorate, while Basra Governorate confirmed, yesterday, Thursday, its technical and logistical readiness for the start of the tournament.
