Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, stressed Thursday that the Martyrdom of the leaders of victory must not be in vain, while stressing not to hesitate in deepening the power of the state.
Al-Sudani said, during the official forum on the occasion of the third anniversary of the martyrdom of the leaders of victory, which was held at Al-Rashid Hotel in Baghdad, and was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “On January 3, 2020, we woke up to shocking news and a dangerous development, which is the targeting and martyrdom of the Vice President of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and the guest of Iraq, General Qassem Soleimani, and their companions on Iraqi soil.
He added, "The previous US administration's doing this act is a flagrant attack on Iraqi soil and sovereignty, and it is condemned by all international norms and laws. It is also a dangerous act whose repercussions could have threatened security and stability in the entire region."
He continued, "Targeting a leadership that had a prominent role in pushing back the dangerous terrorist attack on Iraq and the region during the battle does not reflect respect for the bilateral agreements and the friendly relations between the two countries, adding that it is our duty to recall the most violent extremist terrorist group in our contemporary history.
He pointed out that "the martyrdom of the victory leaders must not be in vain, and for this goal, our new government is working to build a solid foundation for Iraqi sovereignty, an Iraq that is independent in its policies, builds its relations on the basis of common interests with the regional and international community, preserves the sovereignty of its lands and waters, and prevents aggression against the country, his people and guests.”
He continued his speech: "For Iraq to enjoy the stability it deserves, is the goal for which the martyrs struggled , and for this we will continue to work to cut off the traces of terrorism wherever it may be found, as we will continue our path of economic reform and fighting the corruption that represents the most serious current challenge. We work without hesitation on controlling border crossings and uprooting the phenomenon of currency smuggling, we are moving very seriously in order to achieve the government's goals by developing industry and agriculture and raising the standard of living for the Iraqi individual.
He concluded his speech by saying: "May Allah have mercy on all the martyrs of Iraq and the two happy martyrs, the leaders of victory, and we console ourselves and the Iraqi and Iranian peoples on the anniversary of their martyrdom. May Allah protect Iraq and its people."
