Al-Sudani: The Jihadi fatwa was the starting point for the liberation of cities

    The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani, attended the celebration held by the Joint Operations Command on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the declaration of victory over the terrorist gangs of ISIS.

    A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "Al-Sudani saluted the sons of the armed forces of all kinds, who made victory and defeated terrorism in a heroic battle that will remain immortal in the conscience of all Iraqis. He also remembered the righteous martyrs and their great sacrifices, and the heroism of the wounded heroes and their courage in the war." On terrorism, he listened to the speeches of the families of the martyrs and a number of Yazidis, and to their requests, and directed that they be followed up and quickly accomplished.

    Al-Sudani said in his speech during the celebration, according to the statement: “Today we commemorate the fifth anniversary of the definitive victory over the remnants of terrorism and darkness, a victory that would not have been achieved without the Iraqis’ resilience, patience and solidarity. Federal and quick response in the Ministry of Interior, the Peshmerga forces, and other intelligence services and support forces.

    He added: "In that epic, the words of the supreme reference in Najaf, the light behind which the Iraqis walked, were the fatwas of the competent jihad, the point of initiation to liberate the cities and districts, one after the other, and we are proud today of those who were on the battlefield holding a weapon in one hand and stretching the other to save His family and people, just as we are proud of those who left us and rose as a martyr from the leaders of victory and the great victory, commanders, officers, ranks, and associates, so there is no victory except by mentioning the martyrs of Iraq and the wounded of our armed forces.

    And he continued: "We also remember the steadfastness of the displaced, and the sufferings of the forcibly displaced from their homes and the birthplace of their fathers and grandfathers, their homeland that they were known for, and that they knew for thousands of years, and there is no victory except for the women of Iraq, and by recalling their honorable role in the liberation operations and supporting our fighting forces, a tribute to the women of Iraq, and the happy martyrs among them On the anniversary of the great victory.

    He explained: "It is right for us to remember the martyrs of the victimized victim, our youth in the Camp Speicher massacre, the defenseless innocents, the victims of hatred and cowardly murder, just as we remember the heinous crime of the genocide of the Iraqi Yazidis, and the survivors of the Iraqi Turkmen women and the Shabak, as we remember the torments of our people in the liberated areas, who suffered what they suffered." 

    He pointed out: "Our principles and our national belief that rejects terrorism and extremism made its demise an inevitability and a consequence, so that Iraq can return to its thriving diversity, and for the Iraqi society to enjoy its people and its cultural richness, and we still have a long work ahead of us to cut off all strife, and to bury the dreams of extremism and hate speech, and also a lot of work awaits us in Reform, development and a decent life.

    He pointed out that the Iraqis who defeated terrorism are able to defeat corruption, which has become the first enemy of the state and its entity. 

    And he stressed: "I still remember the words of the supreme reference in Najaf, on the thirteenth of December 2019 (The battle of reform is tougher than the battle of terrorism, and the Iraqis are able to win it)."
