President of the Republic, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, affirmed on Wednesday, that the Christian component has expressed its courage by standing side by side with other Iraqis facing challenges and hardships.
Rashid and his accompanying delegation visited the Immaculate Church in Hamdaniya district, Nineveh where the people of the district welcomed the president and expressed their happiness, according to the Presidency of the Republic, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He expressed his deep thanks for the good feelings of the people and his happiness to visit the district of Hamdaniya and meet its people, praising their "steadfastness in facing terrorism."
"The Christian component has expressed its courage with steadfastness alongside other Iraqis in facing challenges and hardships," noting "the importance of advancing the district and meeting the legitimate demands of its people," stressed the president.
The district's reality and the conditions of its citizens were briefed to the president as he listened to the problems they face and the needs necessary to develop their service and living conditions.
Rashid congratulated the people of the district on the birth of Christ (peace be upon him) expressing his happiness at "the end of the terrorism page in the region, the return of inhabitants, and the restoration of stability and security in it."
He recalled "the sacrifices made by the heroic martyrs, men and women, for the sake of a democratic Iraq in which everyone lives in peace."
