An Iraqi-Iranian agreement to form a specialized bilateral committee to discuss areas of health cooperation

    The Ministry of Health announced today, Tuesday, the conclusion of a bilateral agreement with the Iranian side to form a specialized committee to discuss areas of health cooperation.
     
    The ministry said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Minister of Health, Salih Mahdi al-Hasnawi, received today the Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Bahram Ain Allahi, accompanied by the Iranian ambassador, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq, and a number of members of the Iranian Shura Council, in the presence of Representative Siham al-Musawi, head of the Committee Health and Environment in Parliament and a number of officials in the Iraqi Ministry of Health.
     
      "During the meeting, they discussed enhancing means of joint cooperation in the field of providing medicines and medical supplies, exchanging visits between medical teams, holding joint medical conferences, treating patients, and training medical and health staff. According to the statement.
     
      "A joint press conference was held between the two ministers after the meeting, where they emphasized the depth of the historical relationship between the two neighboring countries and the two brotherly peoples," pointing out that "it was announced during the conference that a specialized bilateral committee was formed to discuss areas of bilateral health cooperation, treat patients and bringing medical teams for complex operations (surgeries), and cooperation between medical universities in the two countries in the field of medical and health education and teaching, and to coordinate between the health parliamentary committees in the two countries to issue laws that support the health reality, and make bilateral educational cooperation for medical colleges and the Iraqi board, as well as the opening of branches of medical sciences for Iranian universities in the holy city of Karbala. .
     
    Health Minister Salih al-Hasnawi praised the "health cooperation between the two countries," stressing "the keenness of Iraq and the Ministry of Health to continue cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples."
