Deputy Speaker of the Parliament , Shakhwan Abdullah, congratulated on Sunday, Christians on the occasion of Christmas, while indicating that the parliament, in its current term , is seeking to pass laws to protect the rights of all segments.
The media office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, congratulated Christians on the occasion of the birth the Christ (PBUH), and wished them happiness, tranquility and harmony in our country."
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament sent a "congratulatory cable conveying congratulations and great blessings to the Christian sisters and brothers on the occasion of the birth of Christ (PBUH)," expressing his wishes "to the Christians of the country to enjoy happiness, goodness, tranquility and harmony."
Abdullah stressed that "the Parliament seeks, in its current term, to pass laws and legislation that would protect the rights of all segments of the people, consolidate the principles of human rights, spread the concepts of tolerance and higher values, and support efforts and endeavors to achieve the aspirations and hopes of our people and advance reality and advance our country towards the desired progress and prosperity."
