National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji confirmed on Wednesday, that Iraq will not be part of previous or new axes.
The media office of the National Security Adviser said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "National Security Adviser Qassim Al-Araji received, in his office today Wednesday, the German National Security Adviser, Jens Plotner."
The statement added, "Al-Araji discussed with the German National Security Adviser the continuation of coordination and cooperation between Iraq and Germany in the field of combating terrorism and exchanging information, especially in the security and intelligence field, they also discussed the file of the Syrian al-Hawl camp and the need to dismantle it, and to enhance accountability for crimes committed by the terrorist ISIS."
Al-Araji indicated that "the Iraqi government is determined to continue cooperation and partnership with the international community, and to support ways to stabilize the security of the region and the world," reiterating that "terrorism still poses a real threat, and the international community must cooperate to eliminate it."
It continued, "There are changes in the world and countries must converge with each other, to overcome challenges and crises," stressing that "Iraq will not be part of previous or new axes."
For his part, the German National Security Adviser affirmed his country's support for "the directions of the Iraqi government and its endeavors to maintain security and stability in the region," expressing Germany's readiness to cooperate with Iraq regarding the Syrian al-Hawl camp file, and to expedite the end of this file."
