The Cabinet 6th session issues a number of new decisions

    The Cabinet issued on Monday, a number of new decisions during its 6th session, headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani.
     
    The session witnessed a discussion of the overall general updates in the country, service files, economic issues, and handling the problems in order to find quick solutions to them, according to the media office of the Prime Minister statement received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
     
    The Cabinet discussed the items on the agenda, among which the approval of amending Cabinet Resolution 222 of 2022 regarding supporting the Arab Gulf Football Cup included, financing the Ministry of Finance 3,000,000 dinars to the Iraqi Central Football Association, which contracted with training staff to lead the national football team and establish training camps, tournaments, and matches for the Iraqi national team in preparation for the upcoming benefits.
     
    In the context of the government’s endeavor to develop the electricity fact in Iraq, and to contribute to solving many technical problems facing the distribution network, the Cabinet agreed on the Ministry of Electricity to be contracted with a specialized international advisory body for the purpose of developing a plan to implement the smart grid project, provided that the contract is to take place within 30 working days, as a maximum, starting from the date of issuing this decision, with the exception of the instructions for implementing government contracts.
     
    The advisory body forth mentioned shall review what the Ministry of Electricity has offered for the aforementioned project, prepare a list of conditions for each investment opportunity, determine the scope of work, qualification conditions, and technical specifications, evaluate qualified competitors, recommend referral and prepare contract form, and the Ministry of Electricity assumes executive responsibilities, in coordination with the Ministry of Communications.
     
    The decision included the implementation of the project to be announced as an investment opportunity, according to Cabinet Resolution 245 of 2019.
    It is also included requesting the Parliament to complete work on the amendments proposed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in relation to the law of “Basics of Equivalence of Arab and Foreign Academic Degrees, 20 of 2020” with the presentation that the said law did not allow the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to issue instructions that facilitate its implementation.
     
    They also handled the decision of approving granting Tehran University of Medical Sciences - International Branch in Karbala, Iraq a license to be established, based on the provisions of Article (5/1st) of the Private Higher Education Law No. (25 of 2016), provided that all notes are completed, which are included in the book of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (AH/C 11594) dated November 22, 2022, for the academic year (2022-2023).
