The presidential election session: The National Union insists on Barham Salih and the Democrat intends not to attend the session

The Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed the continuation of dialogues between them to resolve the file of naming the candidate for the presidency of the republic, and while the Union confirmed that Barham Salih is still only candidate, the Democrat suggested the possibility of not attend the parliament session on Thursday to vote on the position.
The spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, MP Suzan Mansour, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "there is no agreement on a compromise candidate for the presidency between the two Kurdish parties so far, and dialogues are continuing between them and have not been interrupted, and it is possible to reach a consensus before the presidential election session next Thursday."
"Barham Salih is still the only candidate for the Kurdistan Union, and in the event that no agreement is reached with the Kurdistan Democratic Party before the date of the session, they may enter with two candidates, Barham Salih and Reber Ahmed, the Democratic candidate." Suzan added.
The House of Representatives, during its session held today, Thursday, set a date for voting to nominate the President of the Republic.
