KDP: There is no agreement on the presidential candidate yet

    The Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed today, Tuesday, a new proposal to choose a candidate for the presidency of the republic, while stressing that there is no agreement to nominate a candidate for the presidential position with the Patriotic Union.
    The representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Sharif Salman, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We see as a proposal by us that it is better to go to the parliament of the region to decide the file of voting for the presidential candidate in the event that the state of disagreement between the Democratic and National Union."
    "The Union has reservations about such a proposal, and no agreement has been reached so far on a candidate for the presidency, and we are looking for a mechanism, such as through the Kurdish representatives in the Iraqi parliament who represent the Kurdish parties, or returning to the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, which represents the citizens of the Kurdistan region." Salman added.
    The House of Representatives, during its session held today, Thursday, set a date for voting to nominate the President of the Republic.
