Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed today, Tuesday, the need to continue the talks between Tehran and Riyadh that began in Baghdad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, that "Hussein discussed with Abdollahian the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tehran, means to consolidate it, and developments in the situation throughout the region and the world."
Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein noted "the importance of continuing the specialized technical committees to activate the memorandums of understanding between the two countries."
Hussein pointed out, according to the statement, to “The need for coordinated diplomacy to solve problems," calling for "the benefit of holding conferences in converging views and adopting a positive dialogue to restore security and stability to the region."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in its statement that "the two sides discussed the reality of bilateral relations between Tehran and Riyadh and improvement it in certain areas, and stressed the need to continue the discussions that began in Baghdad, and also touched on the ongoing negotiations in Vienna and the (five + one) countries."
"The Iranian foreign minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Iraq for the hospitality and respected reception of the visitors of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and also expressed his great appreciation to Iraq for its efforts and constructive role in adopting and following up regional dialogues in the context of promoting stability, security and development in the region, declaring Iran's readiness to continue exchanging ideas on bilateral and regional files of common interest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
