The Joint Operations Command JOC announced Thursday that it had thwarted terrorist plots to target the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The spokesman for JOC , Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "all the security operations that we carried out, especially the last in northern Rawa, as well as in Diyala and southwest of Kirkuk, were related to the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein."
He stressed, "These recent operations resulted in the killing and targeting of large numbers of terrorists by the air force," noting that "these were planning to carry out terrorist operations, both against pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and against our security forces."
He pointed out that "all our pre-emptive operations as a result of the security and intelligence effort were related to securing the pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
